The Category Marketing Specialist will assist the Manager – Category Marketing in planning, directing, and evaluating marketing initiatives aligned with the company goals. This Team Member will provide integral program coordination between all Michaels marketing vehicles to create seamless program presentation to the consumer. The Category Marketing Specialist will work closely with Category Management, Vendors, CMR, Digital/Social, and Store Operations teams to ensure timely program success.
Major Activities
Build and manage relationships between Marketing, Category Management, and key vendors to accomplish division and company goals
Schedule and facilitate monthly (or as needed) meeting(s) with Category Management and communicate all key dates with partners
Prepare monthly category meeting decks including planning, results, and future priorities for merchandising partners
Prepare omni-channel marketing briefs for initiatives related to assigned product category
Ensure marketing channel owners understand key sets, timing, positioning, required tactics, and goals for assigned product categories. Secure products and information, as needed, to support initiatives
Monitor channel owners to ensure weekly deliverables are being met
Manage the development and presentation of program components to senior management, including program analysis and recommendations
Generate and distribute monthly category marketing performance results
Assist marketing manager with planning for Brand efforts
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree
Business, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or related field
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
3+ years of marketing experience

Ability to successfully execute projects on time in highly changeful environment
Flexible, well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task on a high volume of projects at once
Excellent written & oral communication skills, with an ability to determine appropriate content & style for a diverse group
Preferred Type of experience the job requires
Retail marketing or agency background preferred
