Lending Attorney is responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and support as part of legal team supporting lending activities of the Commercial Community Bank, Corporate & Investment Banking and Commercial Real Estate lines of business of Truist Bank. The successful candidate will serve as an internal legal partner to these robust lines of business.
This position will be based at one of Truist’s legal hubs (Charlotte, NC, Winston-Salem, NC or Atlanta, GA).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing legal support for a wide variety of corporate finance transactions (e.g. syndicated lending, ABL lending, commercial real estate lending and bi-lateral lending).
Keeps abreast of and analyzes legislation, regulations, and case law developments that affect the company and the banking industry in area of practice.
Updating proprietary set of loan and collateral form documents for use on internally closed loans and loans closed by outside counsel.
Reviewing and providing comments to loan documentation in which Truist is participating in a syndication led by third party banks
Identifying and assessing legal risk, providing legal advice, and/or assisting in resolving and/or escalating matters which may present potential exposure to Truist.
Serve as an individual contributor but may provide ad hoc work direction and leadership to other legal staff regarding support on active cases or projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing
5 years of post-bar experience in a law firm or corporate in-house within syndicated finance and emphasis on reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex loans and collateral documents (including the syndicated loan market).
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly
Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines
Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Strong analytical skills and ability to balance business needs with legal risks.
